Do you often wonder how you get from one place to the next without paying much attention? Does your day go by without you being aware of the time passed or minor details?
Does it feel uncomfortable being alone, talking about yourself or sitting in silence? Being focused on past events, future concerns or current fears can cause you to avoid the present day.
The goal of mindfulness is the ability to be present and accept your thoughts, physical presence and emotions without dwelling on the negative or feeling overwhelmed by your surroundings. It takes time and discipline to train your brain to “chill-out.”
Be patient with yourself while taking small steps to prioritize your self-care again. Mindfulness tools can include: breathe work, mirror talk, creative arts, sand-box play, meditation practices, yoga stretching, body scans, sound and music, and guided/free-flow meditation.
