EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

Is EMDR right for me?

Imagine if your distressing memories no longer had power over your life. What if you could feel better without having to describe these distressful memories in detail? What if you could learn to manage stress in any situation? What if YOU could heal your distressing memories? If this sounds like a goal you have been trying to accomplish, then it sounds like EMDR is right for you.

What is EMDR?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a type of therapy that uses different methods of bilateral stimulation to process and release distressing memories that have been “stuck” in your brain. It is an 8 step process that helps rewire core negative beliefs attached to a memory and process the memory so the negative belief attached is no longer there. Unlike traditional therapy that works by expressing a certain thought/memory out loud and working to reframe it or allowing it to pass, EMDR gives you the power to reprocess these memories without having to share all of the vivid details aloud. EMDR is an extremely empowering way for you to heal yourself from your experiences without the need to re-tell the details of your story.

What does EMDR help with?

Most commonly, EMDR is known for assisting with breaking the chains of trauma. But, that is not all it has been found to be effective with. EMDR has also been found to be effective in healing from;

 Addiction

Anxiety

Depression

Grief and Loss

Insomnia

Panic Attacks/Disorders

Phobias

PTSD

Self Esteem

Trauma

And much more…

How do I get started?

Dena Paniccia, LCSW-QS SW14217, Dr. Charity Godfrey, LMHC-QS15667, Stacey Heidler, LMHC18286, Adam Larivee MSW, LCSW19812, and Allison Barto Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern 18879 are EMDRIA approved EMDR therapists. During your first appointment, you and your counselor will complete an assessment to gather information and determine an effective plan. Once it has been deemed you are medically appropriate for services and ready for reprocessing, we will begin the next step of EMDR. Therapy sessions can range from 5 sessions and up depending on what is being addressed in therapy. Sessions are 45 - 60 minutes. Your counselor is trained to ensure you are able to process in an emotionally safe way where you are in control of the healing process. The trained therapists will work with you to determine what target areas you would like to address and walk with you in your transformative journey. The next step to healing is just a phone call away.
